where the Hudson Valley and the foot of the Catskills meet we raise our NRCC registered flock of CVM wool sheep. Prizewinning, coated fleeces are available every spring. Our purebred breeding stock rams (horned or polled), ewes, and wethers all have incredible fleeces in varying shades of black, grey and white.
My rugs are made in my studio at the farm. It takes about 2 months to complete each one.
I use fleece from my own sheep combined with mohair, vintage kimono silk and cotton. They are crocheted from 3 ply, thickly spun, dense, plush fiber.
To clean they just need a shake but can be washed in the machine on a delicate/cool cycle and then laid flat to dry.
I have one that has been in uninterrupted use in my own home for over 10 years and is actually looking better over time.
Recommended for use at the bedside, in front of a fireplace, on a tile floor or wood floor in the bath or under your favorite rocking chair.
The joy I get from making them is from experiencing the wonderful unexpected color combinations and textures throughout each rug as they are made. I love the beauty of randomness.
This is not just a wool garment that you take out during the cold season, but a design element you can use and appreciate all year long in your home.
I take custom orders and will make a rug for you that enhances your home too.
Size and color suggestions welcome.
